James Watts
Producer / Writer
Based In UK.
Sample obsessive James Watts has written/produced across the genres including cuts for Galantis to drum and bass bangers with D Double E.
Once a producer at Radio 1, curating the flagship Friday night dance shows, James is “very serious about making fun music” with hip hop producers such as Jermaine Dupri being huge inspirations.
Everything clicked for James Watts when he moved to the Brighton seafront and started writing regularly with like-minded local residents including Clementine Douglas, Olivia Sebastianelli and Toby Scott.
His recent cuts include 1×1 by Galantis, Paradise by Sophie & The Giants/Purple Disco Machine which is a major European airplay hit, and Selecta by Danny Byrd & D Double E – also co-produced by James – which spent 7 weeks on the Radio 1 A list, peaking at no. 3 Shazam UK.
James is a topliner and producer but above all an ideas man. He’s very well connected, including at Radio 1 where he used to be a producer. He learnt his writing and production chops at Xenomania. He’s a big hip hop fan and has recently started making beats for rappers. He is also the creative manager of D&B legend High Contrast.
