Los Angeles based Artist and Songwriter Mondo Boy began writing poems at age 8 and lyrics at 11 to instrumentals of TV theme songs. “I remember the first one I loved was the Boy Meets World theme when the new season came back on TGIF. I had to write to it. It was a stupid song about a horse lol”. A Midwestern native born and raised in Ohio, she moved to Los Angeles in 2009 to pursue songwriting as a career.

With no contacts or opportunities, she began searching for ways to build relationships. She responded to an ad on Craigslist for a music producer seeking interns. This producer had just EP’d Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way” album, and was her first exposure to music industry success in LA. “I also think that I started believing I could be a songwriter and earn a living when I was first invited to Taco Tuesday at Andre Merritt’s house. I met all of these super successful writers like Muni Long, Stacey Barthe, Luke James… I was like okay, this can be a thing”.

Through her journey as a writer, she’s had the honor of working with talent such as Chloe x Halle, “Unholy” Grammy winner Kim Petras, Coco Jones, Dreezy, Timbaland, Alex Da Kid, 6x Diamond songwriter Philip Lawrence, ATL Jacob, Tayla Parx, and many more. She’s written songs for Hardwell, Snoop Dogg, HRVY, and charting #2 on US album charts behind Lizzo’s 2022 LP ‘Special’, she co-wrote the title track for CMG‘s “Gangsta Art” with Moneybagg Yo and Yo Gotti. She considers her proudest moment as a writer being invited by Roc Nation President, Omar Grant, to Rihanna’s home to write for the Anti album. “It doesn’t matter what happens to me after that; in this lifetime, I actually sat next to Rihanna at her kitchen island and ate chicken fried rice… the end”.

Preparing for her first artist release alongside NVDES with dance single, “One Day”, Mondo Boy is ready to focus on releasing irresistibly ear catching pop music. “2023 has been such a great year and I’ve had so much personal growth. The sound of Mondo Boy has been a theme in my records all along and I never noticed until now. I feel very ready for this.” She’s also excited to be included as a writer on the upcoming EP for BET Award winning Best New Artist, Coco Jones. Expected release this fall, 2023.
